Lake Junaluska-William Walton Garrett, Jr., age 50, of 1873 South Lakeshore Drive, died Friday, September 19, 2003, at his residence.
He was a native of Birmingham, Alabama and had lived in Haywood County for the past 17 years. He was a son of William Walton Garrett, Sr. and Marion Huey Garrett, of Lake Junaluska.
He had attended Memphis State University studying the business of music. He was also involved in the University's Radio Station. He was a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Susan Garrett Hodgson and her husband, Mark of Los Alamos, New Mexico; a niece, Angela Hodgson; and a nephew, David Hodgson.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The Reverend John H. Christy, Jr., Reverend Robert E. Fuquay, Jr., and Reverend Burton Ott officiated. The family received friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville.
A memorial service will also be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Waynesville. The Reverend John H. Christy, Jr., Reverend W. Lyn Sorrells, and Reverend Burton Ott will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service, at the church.
