William Dewey Heatherly, age 86, of 57 Lee Road died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Benjamin and Jesse Henson Heatherly. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Blaylock Heatherly; a brother, LeRoy Heatherly and a sister, Louellen West. He was a woodworker and retired from Three Mountaineers with 35 years of service. Dewey was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and a United States Air Force veteran serving in World War II. In addition to his wife of 20 years, Lucy Heatherly, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Galloway and her husband, Bill, of Canton; three sons, Steve Heatherly and his wife, Saundra, of Canton, Phillip Heatherly and his wife, Carolyn, of Candler, and Ronnie Heatherly and his wife, Carolyn, of Canton; two step-daughters, Jean Underwood of Candler and Lorraine Poe and her husband, Bob, of Asheville; a step-son, John Gaddis and his wife, Phyllis, of Canton; a sister, Mary Meyers of McMinneville, OR; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Perry Brindley, Reverend Jimmy Burress, and Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
