William Hill

William Bryant "Bill" Hill, age 69, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace in Asheville. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Charles L. and Myrtle Owen Hill. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myra Snodgrass. He served in the United States Army and retired from Champion International with 30 years of service. During his employment, Mr. Hill was very actively involved with many charitable programs for many years. Among his favorites, the Christmas Basket and Children's Clothing Programs sponsored by Champion International. He was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Cattleman's Association. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Pressley Hill, two daughters; Sharon Duckett and her husband Darrell of Beech Island, S.C., Janice Fisher and her husband Wayne of Canton; two sisters; Juanisha Gardner and her husband Hank of Jacksonville, TX; Geraldine Rhinehart and her husband Gerald of Canton; one brother, Bobby Hill and his wife Maxine, also of Canton; four grandchildren, Brandon and Angela Duckett of Clyde, Krystle Duckett of Beech Island, S.C. and Amanda Fisher of Candler. Funeral services will held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2005 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating and Mr. J.B. Heatherly. Burial will follow in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home Sunday, June 5, 2005.
