William Green

Waynesville-William Hobert Green, age 88, of Stevenson Cove Road, died Friday, September 12, 2003 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center.

He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late William Jonas and Bertha Haney Green. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Howard Green, and by a sister, Elsie Sanford.

He was a self employed dairy farmer for 35 years and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, rabbit hunting and horseback riding.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Bryson Green; three daughters, Kathy Green of Waynesville, Peggy Sue Parkins of Clyde, and Anna Jean Plemmons and her husband, Reid of Brevard; three sons, Kevin Green and his wife Judy of Waynesville, Keith Green and his wife Becky of Maggie Valley, and Billy Green and his wife Elizabeth of Waynesville; one sister, Mazie Harrell of Waynesville; one brother, R. J. Green of Waynesville; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 at the Antioch Baptist Church. Reverend Steve Taylor and Reverend Ted Reeves will officiate. Burial will be at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
