Waynesville-William Eric Holland, age 87, of 280 Pioneer Drive, died Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he had resided in Haywood County since 1980. He was the son of the late George Arthur and Lillian Elizabeth Barlow Holland. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Laverne Ranson Holland and a sister, Virginia Lighthammer. He was a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant of the Marine Corps with over 27 years of service. He served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam and was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anna Jane Ezell Holland; three sons, William E. Holland, Jr. of Dallas, TX, Michael R. Holland of Denver, CO, and Kevin C. Holland and his wife, Amy, of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Linda L. Holland of Clyde; one sister, Ann Holland Werner of Ft. Pierce, FL; four grandchildren, Shaun, Jennifer, Zoe Elizabeth, and Mikel; and one great grandchild, Malaeh. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rick R. Stewart, Raymond O., John D., Raymond M., and Thomas B. Ezell, Bernard D. Folsom, Alfred Barrett, Marshall B. Puffenbarger, Jason Heinz, and fellow Marines.
