William Horne, Jr.

Waynesville, William Ryan Horne, Jr., age 58, of Fox Run Road, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his residence. A native of Elkton, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Ryan Horne, Sr. and Phyllis Simmerman Horne. He was a retired sales representative for DeDietrich Corporation. Ryan was known for his laid-back nature, independence, and love of the ocean. He especially enjoyed spending time at his beach home which he affectionately referred to as "Paradise" on St. George Island, Florida. Ryan also enjoyed swimming, fishing, and walking his dogs along the ocean surf. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lynn Clark Horne; a son, William Ryan Horne, III and his wife, Stacy, of Albany, Georgia; one daughter, April Lynne Horne, of Albany, Georgia; two sisters, Carol H. Lally of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Gail H. Knight of Loganville, Georgia; two uncles, Reverend Cleveland Horne, of Cairo, Georgia and Barry Simmerman and his wife, Elaine, of Lewes, Delaware; three grandchildren, Kory, Desierae, and Austin Horne; and eight nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jay Meadows officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
