Bethel – William Cheyenne Keener, a beloved member of the Bethel community, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at his residence.
Born on December 20, 1983, Cheyenne Keener was a proud 2002 graduate of Pisgah High School where he played football, baseball, and basketball. Following graduation, he played in the East-West football game. He later went on to excel at Presbyterian College, graduating with honors in 2006. Not only did he succeed academically, but he also showcased his athletic prowess as a football player on a scholarship at Presbyterian College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Management and minor in Sociology and Coaching.
Cheyenne leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Wanda Inman Rogers, and paternal grandparents, Jack and Vera McMahan Keener.
He was known for his role as the owner and operator of Bethel Grocery Hunting and Fishing, where he served his community with dedication and passion.
He is survived by his loving parents, Marvin and Karen Rogers Keener of Bethel; his fiancee, Tyra Piergrossi and future stepson, Aiden, both of Maggie Valley; two sisters, Angela Ledford of Bethel and Amber Messer (Anthony) of Cruso; along with five nieces and nephews, Addison, Arley, Harper, Briar, and Finley.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Bethel Community Cemetery with the Reverend Cameron Kilby and Mark Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
Cheyenne's kindness, generosity, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pisgah High School Athletics, 1 Black Bear Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
