William Kelley

Canton-William Larry Kelley, age 91, formerly of 172 Academy St., died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Stephens County, Georgia and was the son of the late Thomas Wilhite and Mary Iola Ivester Kelley. He was married to Mary Lois Henderson Kelley who died in 2000. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ruth Kelley, a granddaughter, Janice Kathleen Kelley, son-in-law, W. Neal Caldwell, nephew, Roy G. Kelley, three sisters and three brothers. He retired from Champion International with more than 40 years of service in 1976 and was a member of Canton First Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara K. Boone and her husband David, and Patricia K. Caldwell, all of Waynesville, one son, William Eugene Kelley and his wife Roxie of Boise, Idaho, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Dr. Jack B. Sammons and Reverend Ed Oakley will officiate. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, SC at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
