William Kidd

Waynesville, William Seaton "Bill" Kidd, age 89, of 24 Belle Meade Drive, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. He was a native of Parkersburg, West Virginia and resided in Marietta, OH until moving to Haywood County in 1960. He was the son of the late Marshal Dale Kidd and Bertha Cline Kidd Beckwith. Bill was also preceded in death by two brothers, three half-brothers, two sisters, two half-sisters and one grandson. He worked at Dayco in quality control until his retirement in 1985. He continued to work at Dayco as a security officer until its closing. He also worked at Wells Funeral Home part-time, was a volunteer chaplain for Haywood County Hospital and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and choir member. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II where he served in Europe, Trinidad and Tobago. He was a member of the American Legion. Bill enjoyed repairing sewing machines and doing things for others. He liked people and enjoyed his life to the end. Bill loved and enjoyed his family and is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ada Wagner Kidd, three sons, Larry Kidd of Hendersonville; Alan Kidd and his wife Evelyn of Church Hill, TN; Ronald Kidd and his wife Dorothy of Waynesville; three daughters, Carolyn Boyd and her husband James, Ginny Gibbs and her husband Jamey, all of Waynesville; and Patti Sellars and her husband Joseph of Clyde; four half-sisters, Ruth Spence of Summerville, SC, Patricia Headley of Marion, OH, Jennie Faldoski of CA, Gene Clarrissomeaux of Dallas, TX; one sister-in-law, Marion Kidd of Port St. Lucia, FL; one brother, Averill Kidd of West Virginia; 7 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a faithful companion Ruffus. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Hazelwood Presbyterian Church. Reverend Larry Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 11th, at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
