William Leatherwood

Canton- William Lee "Bill" Leatherwood, age 76, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Geneive Green Leatherwood and John B. and Anna Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Jean Huffman. Bill was employed with Pet Dairy for 42 years and was a member of Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of Sonoma Masonic Lodge 472 AF&AM. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Gorrell Leatherwood; two daughters, Elaine Lynne Sellers and her husband, Rocky and Martha Jean Trantham and her husband, Charles, all of Canton; five sons, Dewayne Lee Leatherwood and his wife, Karen, John Mark Leatherwood and his wife, Lisa, Kevin Robert Leatherwood and his wife, Tammy and Michael David Leatherwood and his wife, Patricia all of Canton and Hamilton Scott Leatherwood and his wife, Lora, of Morganton, NC; 13 grandchildren, Jacob, James, Stephen, William, Sawyer, Zeb, Brandan, Conner, Stephanie, Robin, Beth, Megan and Kaylee; and 5 great-grandchildren, Lily, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Baily and Carsen. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jake Cagle and Mr. Neil Cagle officiating. Masonic services will be conducted by Sonoma Masonic Lodge 472 AF&AM. Burial will follow in the New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
