William Mcgaha

Waynesville-William Lee McGaha, age 84, of Madison County died on Saturday, November 8, 2006 at his home surrounded by family. He was born June 5, 1922, to Lee McGaha and Hester Haynes McGaha in Cocke County, TN. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. A 49-year resident of the Meadow Fork Community, he was a self-employed farmer and ran a community store. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Mallie Woody; two sisters, Selma Fish and Ruth Messer; three brothers, Joe, Robert and Charles Woody; and one grandson, Travis Michael Seay. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Rathbone McGaha; one daughter, Susan Seay of Clyde; one son, Steve, and his wife JoAnna, of Asheville; two granddaughters, Jamie Velasquez, and her husband, Rolando, of the US Air Force stationed in Germany and Hallie Seay, a student at UNC Wilmington; two grandsons Brandon McGaha also of the US Air Force stationed in Germany, and Heath Seay, of Clyde; one stepgranddaughter, Brooke Seay, of Charleston, SC; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Danielle Velasquez of Germany; three nieces Diana Rogers, Kathy Johnson, and Robin Farr; three nephews, Stanley McElroy, Bobby Woody, and Mike Rathbone; and special friends, Taylor and Dot Ross, Glenda and Barney Matthews, and Jack Stewart. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Barney Matthews, Taylor Ross, Stanley McElroy, Bobby Woody, Jerry Seay, and J.R. Justice. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Madison County, P.O.
