William Mehaffey

June 25, 1952 — December 7, 2003

Waynesville-William Jack Mehaffey, age 51, died Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Betty Jane Gibson Mehaffey of Waynesville and the late Wilfred Rufus Mehaffey. He was a former employee of Haynes Electric and Haywood County School System. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived, in addition to his mother, by four sisters, Carolyn Jean Bartrom and her husband, Hank, of Waynesville, Sandra Elizabeth Cuzzort and her husband, Jim, of Clover, SC, Barbara Ann West and her husband, Ronnie, of Canton, and Patrice Rickman and her husband, Dennis, of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service, and at other times, at the home of Betty Jane Mehaffey, 629 East Street, Waynesville. Pallbearers will be Ronnie, Anthony, and Todd West, Brandon Rogers, Chuck Cathy, and Jeff Rathbone.
