WILLIAM F. MURPHY
Waynesville-William F. Murphy, age 71, of 65 Church Street, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
He was a native of Pennsylvania and a 1950 graduate of Alcoa High School. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and George Washington University. He was a Senate Aide to Senator Estes Kefarber of Tennessee. He was also a former supervisor for the NC Department of Transportation and a former chairman of the Graham County Republican Party. He remained active in politics most of his life.
He is survived by several friends, Ronnie Stewart of Maggie Valley, Tammy and Cassie Stewart of Sylva, Benjie Stewart of Cullowhee, Linda Gillet of Clyde, James Clodfelter of Nashville, Tennessee, Tom O'Keefe of Waynesville, and a very special friend, Aletha Price of Waynesville as well as several cousins and two nephews.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville with Brother Tom O'Keefe officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
