William Mccracken

Waynesville, William Newton "Bill" McCracken, age 72, of 2866 Pigeon Road, died on Thursday, February 07, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert and Annie Mae Chambers McCracken and was also preceded in death by a sister, Jackie McCracken. He was employed at BASF for 11 years and served as past president of the local union. He was founding member of Southeastern Genetics and was a past president of Haywood County Farm Bureau and served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of Frances Cove United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Reva Jackson McCracken; one son, David McCracken of Waynesville; one daughter, Dianne McCracken, of Clyde; one sister, Anne Yates and her husband, Jerry, of Waynesville and two nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Carl Chastain and Reverend Jesse Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
