William Nix, Jr.

William Fountain 'Bill' Nix, Jr., age 76, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late William F. Nix, Sr. and Zadie McJunkin Nix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton and he opened the first Allstate Insurance agency in Haywood County in 1972. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Smathers Nix, whom he married on August 6, 1955; three daughters, Carol Fountain Nix (Penny Parsons) of Raleigh, Alice Marie Dalatri (Brian Dalatri) of Atlanta, GA, and Julia Ann Nix (Scott Richardson) of Portland, OR; two sisters, Mildred Whitted and Sarah Hipps; and two grandchildren, William Peyton Dalatri and Macy Elizabeth Richardson. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jay Meadows officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
