William Oare

February 24, 1922 — September 4, 2007

Clyde-William "Bill" Oare, age 85, of Hyder Mountain Road, died September 4, 2007 at Smoky Mountain Heath Care. A native of Columbus, Ohio he had resided in Cardington Ohio, and Johnston, Ohio before moving to Haywood County in 1984. He was the son of the late Willard and Francis Hickman Oare and was also preceded in death by his wife, Jo Anne Eddy Oare, who died September 8, 2003. He was a World War II veteran, receiving, the Purple Heart, and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for over 50 years, retiring in 1977. He was the president of Galion Ohio Model Railroad Association. He is survived by five sons, William Oare, of Johnston, OH, Robert Oare, and his wife, Mary, of Butler, OH, Patrick Harris, of Clyde, William Harris, and his wife, Tina, of Nebo, NC and Jeffrey Harris, of Galion, OH; and ten grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
