William Perry Howell, age 90, of 14 Sharp Mountain Road, Cruso, died Saturday, July 16, 2005, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. He was the son of the late Strawder and Rachel Sharp Howell. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virgie Ramsey and Ella Moore. Mr. Howell retired from Dayco in 1977. He was a very loving and caring man, a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be missed by his family and by the many people whose lives he touched along the way. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Selma Hooper Howell of Cruso; two daughters, Gail Henson and her husband, David; Carolyn Conard and her husband, Ronnie Dale, both of Canton; two sons Wayne Howell and his wife, Sharon of Florence, Alabama; Jeff Howell and his wife Janice of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Kelly Henson, Todd Howell, David Howell, Jenni and Jason Reynolds; four great-grandchildren, Luke, Logan, Sarah Howell, and Ryan Reynolds. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 pm Monday, July 18, 2005 at East Fork Baptist Church in Cruso with the Reverend Matthew Pruett and the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:30 pm prior to the funeral services at the church. Serving as pall bearers are: Jerry Rhinehart, Tracy O'Neil, Randy Pope, Brandon Rogers, Steve Henson, and Raymond O'Neil. In lieu of flowers, memorials gifts may be made to the First Responders of the Cruso Volunteer Fire Department, C/O Clarence Morrow, 73 Sharp Mountain Road, Canton, NC 28716 or Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, Home Health Bldg., 560 George Leroy Drive, Clyde, NC 28721. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton is in charge of all arrangements.
