William Robertson

Canton- William Davis "Billo" Robertson, 88 died the afternoon of December 8, 2005. "Billo" was born August 29, 1917, in Canton, North Carolina to William Hillman and Rebekah Leisher Robertson who are deceased. He was preceded in death by his love of 62 years, Nettie Mae Robertson who died in March, 2003. Also deceased are his brothers, John Andrew, Albert Edward, Charles Brailler, Thomas Leisher and one sister, Marguerite Marie Allen. "Billo" served in the Army Calvary Reserves during his youth. He also served in the United States Marine Corp. as a Sergeant in World War II stationed in Norfolk, VA and San Francisco, California. He lived in Canton for the rest of his life with his family. He enjoyed caring for his family, keeping his home and yard beautiful, woodworking, and gardening with his wife. He worked in the finishing room at Champion Paper and Fiber Company for 42 years. He was a life-long member of Canton Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. "Billo" is survived by his children, Sandra Hudson and her husband James of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Charles and James Robertson and Kathy Warren and her husband Duke all of Canton. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kris Reddin and her husband James, Tracy Russell and her husband Brian, Josey Warren all of Canton and Shelley Grove and Jessica Robertson of Hagerstown, Maryland, six great-grandchildren, Branden and Colby Reddin, Cassidy and Clayton Russell of Canton and Zane and Kylie Rae Grove of Hagerstown, Maryland. He is survived by two brothers, James Boyd Robertson and his wife Blanche Roberts Robertson of Weaverville and George Reuben Robertson and his wife Hazel Franklin Robertson of Canton. He is also survived by two sisters, Esther Katherine Crawford of Georgia, and Dorothy Hope Romanchuk of Hellertown, Pennsylvania. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Canton Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Riley Covin and Reverend Beverly Brock officiating. Cremation has taken place and the remains will be interred at Locust Field Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence of "Billo" Robertson. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Presbyterian Home for Children, 80 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
