Canton - William Fain Taylor, age 88, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a native of Murphy and had lived in Haywood County most of his life. He was the son of the late Vester and Mamie Wilkins Taylor. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Theda Neil, Ruby Floyd, Geneva and Onedia Taylor and two brothers, Samson and Ernest Taylor. He was a furniture maker and craftsman and attended the Church of God of Prophecy. Fain loved to make crafts, enjoyed woodworking and loved making just about anything. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the World War II era. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Ruth M. Taylor, he is survived by a daughter, Helen Messer of Canton; two sisters, Dora Argyle and Holly Argyle; two brothers, Arthur and Marion Taylor and a grandson, Treagon Messer. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with a eulogy by Deacon Jack Chapman. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 9 Skyline Drive. The family request that in lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness for someone.
