William West

William Jeffrey "Jeff" West, age 51, died unexpectedly from post surgery complications on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Mission Hospitals - Memorial Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a 1976 graduate of Pisgah High School and a 1980 graduate of Mars Hill College with a BS degree in Sociology. He was employed by Custom Packing, Inc with 27 years of service. Jeff was also a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and was a past Senior Warden and Vestry member. He was a former member of the Town of Canton Recreation Commission. He was Captain of the 1975 State Championship football team at Pisgah High School. Jeff was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son and was so proud of his two wonderful daughters. He was an avid golfer with golfing friends throughout the world and was a genuine friend to all. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, his high school sweetheart, Karen Corzine West; twin daughters, Adrianne English West of Durham and Nicole West Revis and her husband, Andy, of Waynesville; his mother, Diana Bell Giliberti and her husband, Nick, of Asheville; his father, Mark R. West of Canton; a brother, Marcus Holland West and his wife, Debbie, of Chapel Hill; and several nieces and nephews, A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Father Tim McRee officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 99 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716.
