William Clyde Worley, age 82, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late William Sanford and Agnes Clark Worley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Allan Clyde Worley, who died in 1993 and two brothers, Carroll James and Kenneth "Cotton" Worley. Clyde retired from Champion International with 48 years of service. He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for 35 years and served in many other offices along with being an honorary deacon. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy McIntyre Worley; one son, Keith Worley and his wife, Margaret, of Canton; one grandchild, Janalyn Scott and her husband, Michael, of Asheville; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Tallan Scott; two special caregivers, whom he called his angels, Marie Parker and Patsy Best; and his best friend, his cocker spaniel, Punkin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Beaverdam Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Worley, Reverend Harry Worley, and Reverend Jack Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton. Pallbearers will be Rex, Phillip, and Leroy Worley, Rick Chambers, Ronnie Lester, Danny Jackson, Jimmy Trantham, Billy Ferguson, and Kenneth Best.
