William Charles "Bill" Davis, 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Boone and Henrietta “Red” Phillips Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Davis.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War and was employed by Haywood County Schools for 28 years as a math teacher at Junaluska Elementary School until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Waynesville Lion’s Club for 34 years and maintained perfect attendance those years. He unselfishly contributed countless hours of time volunteering in the community following his retirement. Bill attended First Baptist Church of Waynesville.
Bill is survived by his cousins, Nancy Crawford, Joe and Gail Sutton, Becky Phillips, Biddie and "Doyce" Stephens, Barbara Huget, Mike and Debbie Robertson, Keith Phillips, Tim and Pat Shook, Jean Stahl; and special friends, Dr. Joe Conard and his wife, Pat.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
