Willie Grant Jones

Canton - Willie Grace “Smokie Jones, 84, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Smokie was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Floyd and Grace Rich Grant.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Alvin “Root” Jones; two brothers, James R. Grant and Jackson P. Grant; and three sisters, Georgie G. Childers, Betty G. Freeman, and Evelyn G. Green.

Smokie was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School and retired from Champion Credit Union with 27 ½ years of service.

She is survived by eight nephews and two nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1623, Waynesville, NC  28786.
