Wilma Rathbone

June 19, 1928 — October 4, 2016

Waynesville, Wilma Mae Cagle Rathbone, 88, of Westwood Circle, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Smoky Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Haywood County, she had also resided in Fredericksburg, Virginia for 13 years. She was the daughter of the late Odell and Effie Elizabeth Hunter Cagle and was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Allen Rathbone, who died in 1976; a sister, Anna Dee Ball; and brothers-in-law, Gene Nichols, Sam Best and Richard Byrd. Wilma was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed quilting, reading, and working in her flower gardening. Wilma is survived by five sisters, Eva Chandler (John) of Canton, Hilda Nichols and Betty Byrd of Waynesville, Dorothy Parton (Henry) of Texas, and Linda Best of the Crabtree community; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2017 at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Tim Lolley officiating.
