Wilma Smith

Wilma Pressley Smith, age 84, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Baxter Garland and Maida Roberson Pressley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy W. Smith, Sr., who died in 2000. Wilma was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had a fondness for reading, sewing, and watching QVC. She is survived by three sons, Reverend Guy W. Smith, Jr., and his wife, Rickie and Reverend Roger D. Smith and his wife, Becky, all of Brevard, and Reverend Steve W. Smith and his wife, Lynn, of Waynesville; a sister, Polly Minzenmayer and her husband, Roy, of Canton; two brothers, G. B. Pressley, and his wife, Thelma, of Asheville and Ray Pressley and his wife, Ruby, of Canton; eight grandchildren, Reverend Jeff Smith, Missy Conard, Carrie Stockdale, Tony Smith, Amy McDuffie, Caleb Smith, Anna Laura Bowman, and Reverend Jacob Smith; and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Darrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
