Wilma Sutton

Canton, Wilma Jean Burgess Sutton, age 83, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Haywood Regional Medical Center with her beloved family by her side.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mae Burr Sanford Burgess.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Sutton, who passed away in 2010; and her daughter, Denise Sutton; two sisters, Louise Kirkpatrick, and Betty Burgess; and brother, Paul Burgess.  Wilma, in her earlier days, loved to play softball and cards with her friends.  She also enjoyed looking at family photographs, working puzzles, and spending time in nature. 

Jean is survived by her daughter, Renee Kuykendall and her husband, David, of Cruso; two brothers, J.C. Burgess and his wife, Sheila, of Canton and Doc Burgess and his wife, Brenda, of Franklin.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
