Wilma Teague

Wilma Lorraine Evans Teague, age 92, went home to be with her Lord, on Monday, December 24, 2012, at her daughter's residence. Born on July 29, 1920, she was a native of Buncombe County and a daughter of the late Herbert and Sue Galloway Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Teague, who died in 1975; her son, Carroll "Cowboy" Teague; three sisters, Velma Seay, Hilda Ballard, and Vera Green; and two brothers, Clifton and Ross Evans. Wilma (Nanny Teague) is survived by her daughter, Edna Hawkins (Bobby), of Asheville; a daughter-in-law, Saundra Henson Teague; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Teague (Patty), Steve Teague (Kelly), Maryann Robinson (Tim), and Loralee Nelson and her late husband, Marty, and David Hawkins (Shanna); nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and four sisters, Ann Dortmundt, Sarah Branch, Mary Ruth Ray (Irvin), all of Reidsville, and Louise Surratt (Willie), of Asheville. Wilma was a charter member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church, which she attended faithfully, and enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible school. She retired from American Enka with 35 years of service and she enjoyed working in her flower garden. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Doug Henson and Reverend Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
