Waynesville, Wilson W. Holland, age 79, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 16, 2008 after a short illness. He was a native of Macon County, and was raised in Haywood County. He was the son of the late B.H. and Lula Russell Holland. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Clell Holland; sister, Dallas Mathis and a daughter in law, Charlotte Holland. He owned and operated the Star Hotel in Maggie Valley for twenty nine years, and then owned H&H Auto Sales in Clyde for a number of years. Wilson was instrumental in the development of Maggie Valley and co owned a gem mine in Franklin with his brother, Clell, where they made gem stone jewelry. Wilson had a host of friends and was loved by everyone. He was always ready to help anyone in need and had a heart of gold. He was a avid fisherman and had a love for all animals especially his cat "Spot." He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Callie Clarke Holland; son, Phillip C. Holland of Maggie Valley and two sisters, Alaska Presley of Maggie Valley and Grace Rhinehart of Lake Junaluska. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Lolley, Reverend John H. Swanger, III and Reverend G.W. Jameson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garret Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Bud Mehaffey, Roy Douville, Ken Connor, Dave Koon, J.W. Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers will be James Treadway Bill Boyd and Ronnie Dixon. Flowers are accepted and appreciated and memorials may be made to Calvary Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 77 Sutton Loop Road, Waynesville, NC 28786 or Hazelwood Baptist Church, 265 Hazelwood Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
