Wilson Rathbone

WILSON RATHBONE

Waynesville-Wilson Rathbone, age 84, of 1168 Hyatt Creek Road, died Thursday, October 24, 2002 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late George and Addie West Rathbone. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Mae London Rathbone, who died May 25, 2002. He was a former employee of the Trailways Bus Company and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by three daughters, Emma Jean Speck and Jackie Sutton of Waynesville and Catherine Williams of Sacramento, CA; two sons, James Rathbone of Weaverville, NC and Sherman Rathbone of Lexington, NC; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2002 with Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. Pallbearers will be Gee Rathbone, Roy Rathbone, Howard Chapman, Butch Owenby, Chris Strader, and Robert Strader. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence on Hyatt Creek Road.

Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
