Winifred Stephenson

Winifred Stephenson, age 85, formerly of Haywood County died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at her daughter's residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Holden and Dellie Pruett Warren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Clarence Stephenson, who died in 2007 and a daughter, Edith Stephenson. Winifred never had a bad thing to say about anyone and had never met a stranger. She would always find the good in people. She was a very loving, kind, and caring mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. If God ever put an angel on earth, Winifred was one of them. She is survived by three daughters, Louise Stephenson of Canton, Lillian Huffman of Hickory, and Frances Rathbone of Lincolnton; a son, Bobby Stephenson of Lincolnton; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend William Painter and Reverend Charles Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at Inman Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
