Woodrow Morgan

February 14, 1915 — May 12, 2004

Canton-Woodrow Morgan, age 89, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Jason and Callie Lewis Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Rogers Morgan who died in 2000; a son, Carroll Morgan; two sisters, Ethel and Daisy Morgan; and two brothers, Will and John Morgan. He was employed by Champion International for 34 years in the Maintenance Department, working at Lake Logan, before his retirement in 1976. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of Burnette Siding Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Lokerson, and her husband, Joe, of Canton; a son, Terry Morgan and his wife, Gail, of Canton; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Reverend T.M. Gibson, Reverend Ted Reeves, and Jeff Reece officiating. Burial will follow at Sunburst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie and Nelcy Reece, Jacob Morgan, Blaine Parker, Eddie Brown, and Jeff Inman. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association of NC, P.O. Box 27985, Raleigh, NC 27611.
