Waynesville, Zada Burdine Phipps, 99, went home to be in the presence of her Heavenly father on the 18th of September 2016. A native of Miami, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Roddey Bell and Zada Dutton Burdine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest M. Phipps; a sister, Patricia Burdine; and a daughter, Patti Lee Phipps. Zada was a woman of grace, dignity, and poise. She was most generous with many people especially her family. She always kept a positive attitude towards life, and chose to see the best in everyone that she was around. We will miss her pleasant smile and encouraging words. Everyone enjoyed being in Zada's company, and she will be dearly missed. What a blessing it was to know her and her positive countenance towards all. Zada is survived by her brother, Roddey Burdine, Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughter, Zada Phipps Hooten and her husband, David M. Hooten, of Maggie Valley; three granddaughters; Brette Bates, Danielle Artabasy, and Joanna Hooten. She is also survived by three trustworthy and dependable grandsons (by marriage): George Lobsenz, Chris Artabasy, and Steven Clausnitzer. In addition, she is survived by six great grandchildren: Charles Lobsenz, Olivia Lobsenz, Kellen Artabasy, Lilla Artabasy, Eve Clausnitzer and Atticus Clausnitzer.
