Yorktown, VA-Zeb Vance Trammell, age 89, formerly of Waynesville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Hospice House of Williamsburg, VA. Born in Morgan County, Tennessee, he grew up in Haywood County until he entered the military. He was the son of the late Thomas and Ada Mae Tracey Trammell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Ruby Caldwell Trammell; his second wife of three years, Sun Ok Ranieri; a loving daughter, Louise Cook; and two brothers, Lawrence and Ted Trammell. He served in World War II as a Corporal in the Marine Corps and later retired as a Sergeant First Class from the US Army where he served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his retirement, he was the club manager of the Hampton Yacht Club in Hampton, VA. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47 in Waynesville and the Disabled American Veterans. He loved his family deeply and touched the lives of everyone he met with his contagious sense of humor. He adored all of his grandchildren and was especially proud of all their accomplishments. He is survived by a loving daughter, Shirley Rowland and her husband, Carroll, of Williamsburg, VA; a devoted stepdaughter, Suki Tooley and her husband, Wade, of Virginia Beach, VA; a son-in-law, James "Dink" Cook; two sisters, Mae Gaddis and Jean Jones and her husband, Ned; and one brother, William Trammell, all of Waynesville. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Cara Grant and her husband, Mike, of Williamsburg, Tanya Williamson and her husband, Keith, of Chesterfield, VA, and Monica Ferguson and her husband, John, of Waynesville; and seven great grandchildren, Rachel Grant, Katelyn Grant, Hayley, Benjamin, and Jacob Williamson and Eli and Sarah Ruby Ferguson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Mears officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home, and at other times, at the home of his granddaughter, Monica Ferguson of 65 Playground Street, Waynesville.
