Zettie Messer

Zettie Sutton Messer, age 96, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Peirson and Nettie Rhodarmer Sutton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Verona Whittier and Ezzie Cagle; and two brothers, Elmer and Lloyd Sutton. Zettie loved flowers and gardening. She is survived by three daughters, Clara Messer Parrott and her husband, Grant, and Arletha Messer Long and her husband, Claude, all of Waynesville, and Dorothy Messer Crawford of Pickens, South Carolina; one son, Tommy Messer and his wife, Edith, of Waynesville; one sister, Zeffie Messer of Waynesville; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Myers, Pastor Ed Couser, and Pastor Tim Sheridan officiating. Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be all grandsons, Tony and Steve Long, Greg Parrott, Kyle Messer, Keith and Randy Crawford.
