Ziller Austin Elkins of Asheville went to sleep in Jesus' arms Wednesday evening July 31, 2013. She was 90 years old. She had led a full life enriched with a loving family and wonderful friends and neighbors. Born in Yancey County, September 26, 1922 to the late Mack and Ellen Austin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elkins was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Fox, who was killed in WWII. John Elkins, a loving husband of 51 years, sons Wayne Fox, Jimmie Lee Elkins, Bruce Elkins, nine siblings and two grandsons.
She is survived by four daughters, Hazel Bradley (Jim), Mary Rash (Gerald), Betty Elkins, Magdalene Briggs (Bruce), 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, seven sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, August 2nd in the Chapel of Faith at Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn, Candler with Tony Parham officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
Special thanks to three Beautiful Angels, Terry Melton, Theresa Cooper and Sharon Briggs who stayed with the family at the hospital and supported us and their grandmother during her last days. Dr. Scott Ring at Mission Hospital, for your compassion and caring. Care Partners, Hospice, for being there in her final days. Nurse Christy, an Angel in her own special way.
