Cruso Community – Mrs. Carol Ann “Memaw” Helgesen-Carroll Davis, age 83, of Cruso, went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2021 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family.
Carol was born September of 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, the eldest daughter of the late Carl Olaf Fredolph Helgesen and her beloved Mother Florence Virginia Tucker Helgesen Carroll. She was raised by her mother and beloved stepfather, John Carroll. Carol moved to Florida as a senior in high school. She soon met the love of her life, Robert “Bobby” Davis, and they were married in June of 1957. They bought a home in Hollywood, Florida that same year and raised their girls in that home until they retired and relocated to Cruso, NC to live permanently.
Carol loved being a mother and a grandmother. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older and after a brief job with Terrill Motor Machine, she went into banking where she worked her way up to branch manager with Glendale Federal and held that position until retirement. Carol loved living in Cruso. She became close friends with so many. She was a member of Cruso Friendship Club and loved crafting and making gifts for her family. Carol’s favorite pastime was shopping and she’d wear out anyone willing to tag along. She adored family and especially adored her grandchildren. You would find her at any and every event they may have been involved with. She truly was an amazing woman who valued family above all else.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband and one great love, Robert Davis, her beloved grandson, Robert “Bobby” James Ager, her parents, and her beloved dog, Buffy Davis.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Debbie Davis and fiancé, Jerry Krawczyk, Denise Boggie and son-in-law, Chris Boggie, Darlene Smith and fiancé Wayne Cabe, and his grandsons; her beloved grandchildren, Thomas Mammarelli, Brittney Zarczynski and her husband Jorden Zarczynski, Bradley Cento, Nicholas Mammarelli, Elizabeth Mammarelli, Danielle Smith, Chase Boggie and his wife, Mikal Boggie, and Paige Boggie; her beloved great-grandsons, Grayson Boggie, Griffin Boggie, and Lucia James Zarczynski; and her dog, Bobby! Carol is also survived by her sister, Carlene Bowden and husband, Woodson Bowden, of Melbourne, Florida; her brother, John Carroll, of Plantation, Florida; brother-in-law, Joseph Chancy and his wife, Lory, of Lake City, Florida; sister-in law, Donna Davis of Cataula, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews she adored.
Carol lived a full and wonderful life. She will be missed by so many but most importantly by her family that she loved so well!
