Waynesville, James Arthur Beck, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Harris Regional Hospital.
A native of Jackson County, he was a son of the late Grady Arthur and Ellen Green Beck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Louise Russell Beck, who died in 2012; two sisters, Mary Doris Brown and Annie Beck; and brother, Carroll Beck. Arthur retired from Dayco Southern after 33 and a half years, was a member of Balsam Missionary Baptist Church for 55 years and was the oldest acting deacon. He enjoyed reading his Bible and telling people about the Lord. Arthur liked to spend time birdwatching and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Arthur is survived by a son, Steve Beck, and his wife, Paula, of Balsam; daughter, Susan Beck Smith, and her husband, Chad, of Crabtree; sister, Barbara Jean Dehil, of Waynesville; grandson, Tyler Beck (Meagan); four great-grandchildren, Brayden Michael, Auburn Winter, Ellen Lucille, and Grady Cash; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
The care of Mr. Beck has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
